Importance of Multi Point Inspections

“While your vehicle was in our service bay, our technician noticed and documented that while your front brakes are performing properly and adequately now, they may require attention at your next service.

We are seldom asked why it is we perform a multi-point inspection when a customer hasn’t specifically requested that we perform one.  The answer is simple and always the same.  With your permission we perform a courtesy multi-point inspection with every service for YOUR safety and peace of mind.  If your technician is not performing one, consider finding a new service station and I’ll tell you why.

Imagine this.  You visit your dealership or independent mechanic for a standard oil change and have only the oil change performed.  Four months later your vehicle is in need of a state inspection where your vehicle fails for a lengthy list of safety concerns (ie: brake pad and rotor replacement) that had never been brought to your attention previous to this visit.  You are:

  1. Going to question the validity of these findings considering you’ve never been advised the future need and requirement of this service;

  2. Not going to have been financially prepared for these findings;

  3. May or may not have the time to complete these repairs before resuming your day;

  4. Incredibly inconvenienced by the lack of attention your technician paid at your last visit.

    Performing a multi-point inspection allows our technicians to observe and document items that are in need of immediate attention, future attention or no-attention at all.   At Irwin’s we make it our responsibility to measure and report the quality and condition of all major components of your vehicle.  It also assists in monitoring possible inconsistent and improper wear over a period of time and to closely monitor whether a condition has increasingly gotten better or worse between visits.  Most importantly it’s our responsibility to share and bring these items to your attention.

    By performing a multi-point inspection we are ensuring that your vehicle is in its safest condition when it leaves our service bays and provides a peace of mind to our technicians and to you that every vehicle and every customer is important to us.

    Are you ever curious the condition in which your vehicle stands?  Multi-point inspections are performed as a courtesy at Irwin’s, whether you are a returning customer or not, your safety is important to us.  Make an appointment to be sure your vehicle is in its best operating condition!
