New for 2016, Toyota is gifting us with some fun and fresh vehicles, wrapped in either a hatchback or - for the first time ever - a sedan body.
From what we know so far, we're delighted by both and are eager to show you what makes each car unique and exciting. Check out the 2016 Toyota Scion iM hatchback and the 2016 Toyota Scion iA premier sedan at your local, award-winning Toyota car dealer.

So far, we just can't pick which one is our favorite. Can you?

The 2016 Toyota Scion iM: The Hatchback for Pet Lovers

Recasting the hot hatch image, the new Scion iM has been specially designed to please drivers and their hairier sidekicks, too. Able to seat five, including Fido, the new 2016 Toyota Scion iM is a fun hatchback with some serious standard features. The exterior is instantly recognizable thanks to the Scion iM'sglossybalck accents on the front fascia and its trapezoidal-shaped lower grille. Perched on 17-inch wheels, the interior of this car is awesome, rife with loads of standard features.

To name just a few, check out the cruise control, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning, power folding mirrors, Pioneer sound system, which is complemented by a seven-inch touchscreen, along with comfort features like padded lower panels on the dash, a contoured steering wheel wrapped in leather, and convenient safety enhancements like a rear backup camera, and power locks and windows.

Optional equipment comes from dealer-installed accessories like TRD performance accessories, featuring an anti-roll bar, lowering springs, and cold-air intake, and an available navigation system, in addition to upgrades in the cargo area.

Why is the 2016 Toyota Scion iM hatchback ideal for pet lovers?

Well, the interior of the Scion iM can be outfitted with door guards, a tether, a pet barrier for the seats, and an available imitation grass pad, which reportedly "discourages your doggie from standing on the center console." Additional pet accessories can be stored in the Scion iM's cargo space, measured at 21 cubic feet. Equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 137 horsepower and 126 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2016 Toyota Scion iM is operated by either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-selectable mode continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
Performance testing returned a zero to sixty mph run rated between 8.8-9.5 seconds, with the zero to 100 mph measured from 27.2-28.7 seconds, and the quarter-mile completed in 16.8-17.4 seconds. The 2016 Toyota Scion iM is able to clock top speeds at 110 mph.

The EPA estimates that the 2016 Toyota Scion iM will return a fuel efficiency rated at 27 city mpg, 36 highway mpg when paired with the manual transmission, which jumps to 30 city mpg, 37 highway mpg delivered by the continuously variable transmission. We're loving the six-shade exterior color palette available on the 2016 Toyota Scion iM, featuring Blizzard Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic, Black Sand Pearl, Barcelona Red Metallic, and the all new for 2016 shades of Spring Green Metallic and Electric Storm Blue.
Available later this fall for the 2016 model year, and expected to be priced just under $20,000, we can't wait to test drive the new Scion iM. We'll even bring our dogs along for the ride.

The 2016 Toyota Scion iA: The First Four-Door Sedan from Scion

Ranked Number One in the subcompact car class by Car and Driver, the 2016 Toyota Scion iA is worth a serious look. Based off the 2016 Mazda 2 sedan, the five-passenger, four-door, 2016 Scion iA sedan - the first of its kind - has been uniquely styled with respect to it front fascia, badges, and tweaks to the taillamps and headlamps.

Sharing the same 1.5-liter Skyactiv direct-injected four-cylinder engine as the Mazda 2, this powertrain features a 12.0:1 compression ratio, generating 106 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 103 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. Operated by either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, the 2016 Toyota Scion iA boasts lighter curb weights (2,385 lbs. from the manual, 2,416 lbs. from the automatic), which enhances handling and maneuverability.
According to Car and Driver, the 2016 Toyota Scion iA sedan was able to run from zero to sixty mph in 9.0 seconds, zero to 100 mph in 26.9 seconds, and reached maximum speeds of 120 mph.

But the really good news comes from the sedan's outstanding fuel efficiency, estimated at 31 city mpg and 41 highway mpg when matched with the manual transmission, while the automatic transmission returns 33city and 42 highway mpg. Despite it's projected price of approximately $16,000, the Scion iA is a steal, especially when you consider all that comes standard in this sedan, offered in a single trim level. Between the forward-collision warning system, 16-inch aluminum wheels, turn-signal repetition displayed in the exterior side mirrors, not to mention the interior which features push-start ignition, keyless entry, rear camera, cruise control, and air conditioning, the new Scion iM also comes standard equipped with the Mazda infotainment system, consisting of a seven-inch display screen, operated by a twist knob control.

Cargo volume is fairly tight at 13 cubic feet, compared to the Scion iM hatchback, but if you don't intend to haul around backseat passengers on a regular basis, the rear seats should provide the extra space you need for groceries, your gym bag, or whatever you tend to tow along on your travels. Separate of these standard goodies, your Toyota Scion dealer will offer additional options and accessories for you to customize and spice up your new Scion iA sedan.
Seven shades are available on the 2016 Toyota Scion iA'sexterior,

including: Abyss, Frost, Graphite, Pulse, Sapphire, Stealth, and Sterling.

In addition to sharing the powertrain and basic body design, the new Scion iM also borrows the Mazda's front-strut/rear-torsion-beam suspension tuning and electric power steering, which should make this sedan really fun to drive. Those lucky enough to have already driven it, like the crew at Car and Driver, report that the 2016 Toyota Scion iA is a quiet, smooth sedan, marked by grace and handling precision.

Pricing for the 2016 Toyota Scion iA is expected to start around $16,500.
