In February, the Midwest Automotive Media Association named the Hyundai IONIQ 5 its favorite vehicle of 2025. This is just the latest award for the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ, and it's probably not done yet as it continues to increase in popularity.  

First Hyundai EV to Wear the N Badge

The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 was a consensus pick of roughly 150 automotive media sources. It's the first EV by the automaker to get the N treatment to the tune of 641 horsepower with N Grin Boost engaged. The award was announced at the Chicago Auto Show's opening breakfast.

The IONIQ 5 snatched the win from among 80 new vehicles of many types thanks to its impressive performance and driver engagement. Hyundai has proven that an electric sports car can be even more exciting than its gas counterparts while equally affordable.

MotorWeek 2025 Drivers' Choice Award for Best Performance

MotorWeek made the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 its unanimous selection to receive the 2025 Drivers' Choice Award for the Best Performance Car. The IONIQ 5 was praised for its high-performance N model and unique, fun technology like N Drift Optimizer and N e-Shift. 

This award was also announced at the Chicago Auto Show. Like the previous award, the IONIQ 5 won thanks to its all-around performance; it doesn't compare with other EVs or any other models; it beats out the competition. It stands as Hyundai's most powerful production model and delivers an engaging driving experience.

Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award Goes to the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5

Yet another award picked up by the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the KBB Best Buy Award for 2025. The award also went to the Hyundai Kona. The award breaks down by category, so the IONIQ 5 captured the Best Buy Award for EVs. 

This is the third consecutive year for the IONIQ 5 SUV to capture the Best EV award from KBB. It's no secret that KBB is one of the most trusted outlets for automotive news and information, and its Best Buy Awards are sought by every automaker. 

Innovative Driver Experience Technology Defines the IONIQ 5

The IONIQ 5 is the first EV member of Hyundai's performance N sub-brand and designers went all-out to add more features for a high-performance driving experience. 

Compared to the regular IONIQ 5, the N model has sharper handling, better braking, and more power. Add fun techs like the N Drift Optimizer and N Grin Boost Mode, and you have a recipe for high-performance hijinks. It even includes electronically generated engine sounds to match every throttle engagement.
